Active Swaps Type Descriptor PROGRAMME Active Movement recognises that behaviour change is achieved through small steps to attain long-term cumulative gain. This can also apply to shifting nutritional habits. The Active Swap programme is designed to educate children and parents Type Descriptor PROGRAMME For all children who bring in packed lunches, they are asked to swap one item for a more healthy option. This can be part of a week event, or a daily event once a week. OPTIONS Here are some examples of simple swaps brown bread instead of white bread fruit instead of chocolate bars water instead of sugary drinks carrot sticks instead of crisps chicken salad sandwiches instead of sausage rolls PROMOTION Please highlight the programme to the children An active swap board is a wipeable poster to be placed in lunchbox eating areas on which the daily or weekly swaps can be written for reference . The board should carry the swap you wish them to make the next day. Parents should also be informed. Such changes might affect their nutritional behaviour with their children REVIEW Kitchen staff should look at packed lunches to see if swaps have taken place. Pictures of those bringing in swaps can be featured in relevant locations. House points can be allocated for those completing swaps © Copyright Active Movement 2016
