Photosynthesis

Plants are producers Plants make their own food by photosynthesis

Photosynthesis Energy from the sun is trapped by a pigment called chlorophyll inside chloroplasts and is used to turn water and CO2 into glucose.

Photosynthesis has 2 Parts 1. Light-Dependent Reaction Must have Light Uses light to split water (photolysis) Converts radiant energy into chemical energy Makes Oxygen * Occurs in the Thylakoid of chloroplasts!

2. Light-Independent Reaction/Dark Reaction/Calvin Cycle Can work at night or day Uses CO2 & energy from light dependent Rxs Makes glucose (sugar) * Occurs in the stroma of chloroplasts!
