Programme of events Thursday 6th July Leave KES at 6am The coach will leave KES at 5.45am and so it is recommended that pupils arrive in good time. They will need to bring along their passport and EHIC cards and these will be collected in before they get on the bus. The staff will keep these safe and will hand them back to the pupils on returning to the UK where they will be needed for the border control check. We will be allocated our own room on the ferry and so pupils will be able to sit together and leave their bags in a safe place if they want to go off and explore. There is lots to do on the ferry to keep everyone occupied!

Programme of events Thursday 6th July VISIT TO PEGASUS BRIDGE After a long ferry crossing, we will take a short break on our way to the Château by stopping at Pegasus Bridge where we will be able to learn about the importance of the taking of the bridge in preventing a German counter attack in the weeks following the invasion of Normandy in 1944. The bridge was renamed Pegasus Bridge, in honour of the Parachute Regiment whose emblem is the Pegasus.

Programme of events Thursday 6th July Arrival at the Château du Molay On arrival at the Chateau du Molay, pupils will be asked to put their bags in their rooms and then come down for a ‘meet and greet’ session with the Château staff. There is usually an activity planned for the first evening and this is often after supper. We all eat together in the dining room. There is a bar at the Chateau which sells drinks and crisps and pupils are asked to request these in French.

Programme of events Friday 7th July We will be looking at some of the places that best tell the story of the Allied Invasion of Normandy during the Second World War. We will visit Arromanches, The 360 Museum, the American Military Cemetery, the battery on the Pointe du Hoc and the German Cemetery at La Cambe.

The evening programme will include a supervised swimming session and activities with the Château staff The evening programme will include a supervised swimming session and activities with the Château staff

After our picnic lunch we will spend some time in Bayeux before stopping off at the German cemetery on our way back.

We will return back to the Château in time for a swimming session. KES pupils will have an opportunity to taste ‘les cuisses de grenouilles et les escargots’.
