What is rhythm in Art?

Visual Rhythm Visual Rhythm is rhythm you receive through our eyes rather than your ears It is created by repeated positive shapes separated by negative spaces It is all around us

5 Types of Rhythm Regular Alternating Random Flowing Progressive

Regular Rhythm Use of identical motifs (element of a pattern) or visual beats that have an equal amount of space between the motifs.

Alternating Rhythm Achieved by changing motifs at regular intervals

Random Rhythm Motif is repeated in no apparent order Cannot predict exactly where the next motif will be Which of these rhythms is more random?

Flowing Rhythm Created by repeating wavy lines and curved shapes
