NR workload management Summary of key decisions Source: RAN Chairman

Outline These slides present a summary of the decisions on NR workload management on the following aspects: Handling of Study Items in Q4 Focusing on a reduced set of architecture options Focusing WG efforts to essential functionality Administrative measures Resolving major contentious technical items

1. Handling of Study Items in Q4 Measures to maximize meeting time available for Release-15 NR in Q4: Proposal: NR Study Items led by RAN1 or RAN2 would remain on hold until December/2017 Note: The overall TU allocation and completion target for these SIs will be updated Proposal-bis: Study Items led by RAN3 are

2. Reduced set of architecture options It is recognized that all architecture options within the scope of the NR WID continue to be important To meet the timelines it is proposed to focus WG efforts on Q4 on the options with early deployment commitments Proposal: Focus WG work

3. Focus on essential functionality WGs should focus on basic and essential functionality first Decision: RP-17xxxx endorsed for RAN1 and RAN4 apsects TBD: Handling of RAN1 de-prioritized items Decision: RP-17xxxx endorsed for RAN2 aspects

4. Administrative measures Additional ad-hoc meetings Number of meetings already at the limit Decision: on RAN4 ad-hoc TBD Longer WG meetings (6-7 day meetings) Such extreme measures are highly discouraged Additional parallel sessions Left to the WG leadership to decide on a case-by-case basis Focused input contributions from companies Decision: Measures to allow only 1 contribution per agenda item per company are encouraged

5. Resolving contentious items Resolution on contentious technical issues: Single-transmission vs dual-transmission Decision: RP-17xxxx endorsed Uplink sharing UE category and peak data rates

Thank you!
