Ancient Mesopotamia

Sumerian empire They grew there food on the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers To control the river they made dikes, or dams made of earth. They were one of the first to use wheeled carts to carry food. They invented the Division of Labor.

Akkadian empire They were ruled by Sargon the Great who maintained it with his powerful army. In 2125B.C the Akkadian empire started to collapse. After the death of their king the empire lasted over 200 years. They collapsed because they lost control of there government.

Babylonian Empire. They created the system of taxation. They created the code of hammurabi. In 1600B.C the Babylonian empire fell. There king was Hammurabi.

The Kassites and Hittites The Kassites tried but failed to take over babylon. The Hittites robbed babylon but didn’t stay long. The Hittites took over Babylon because they had chariots which the Babylon had never seen. The Kassites took over when the Hittites left

Assyrian Empire They learned warfare from the Hittiites. They were the first to use the lance. In 700B.C they were one of the biggest armies. They also made the lock door and magnifying glass.

Neo Babylonian Empire They call it the Neo Babylonian Empire because neo means new. Their king was Nebuchadnezzar. There kingdom stretched past Mesopatemia. Their king was one of the best known kings of ancient Mesopotamia.

Summary I learned about how empires rose and fell. How new inventions were used by the empires. What kings did to maintain their kingdoms and what they built. I also learned about some wars that the kingdoms had with each other and how they lost or won.
