TITLE-: SEARCH FOR ANY LOCATION USING GOOGLE MAPS AMRUTA R. PARDESHI MFAS, CPTP – 4, BATCH – A

GOOGLE MAPS Google Maps is a web mapping service developed by Google. It offers satellite imagery, street maps, 360° panoramic views of streets (Street View), real-time traffic conditions (Google Traffic), and route planning for traveling by foot, car, bicycle (in beta), or public transportation.

Google Maps offers several services as part of the larger Web & Android application: Allows you to view the basic Google Map content. Search for addresses, businesses, places of interest, etc. Base maps: Traffic layer, Map layer, Satellite Layer, Terrain Layer, Earth Layer. Activate Street View by clicking on the orange person and dragging it around the map. Google Maps provides a route planner under "Get Directions". Up to four modes of transportation are available depending on the area: driving, public transit, walking, and bicycling. In combination with Google Street View, issues such as parking, turning lanes, and one-way streets can be viewed before traveling. You can search for all kinds of things, like post offices, photo booths, bus stops, or street names, using Google Maps. Google Maps for Mobile offers a location service for motorists that utilizes the Global Positioning System (GPS) location of the mobile device (if available) along with data from wireless and cellular networks. Google Street View enables users to view and navigate through horizontal and vertical panoramic street level images of various cities around the world.

Search for Location with Google Maps on computer : Select the contact in Address Book. If the Addresses section contains an address, hover over the View Map icon. A thumbnail view of the address location is shown in a Google map. Click View Map icon. The map is enlarged. To enter another address, delete the address in the Search text field at the top of the map and enter a new address. Click Show Location. For driving directions, cycling directions, or walking directions between two locations, select Driving Directions, Cycling Directions, or Walking Directions from the Search drop-down menu at the top of the map. Enter an address in the green A and B text fields. Directions are listed in the left column of the main pane. To print directions, click Print directions next to the printer icon. For reverse directions, click the outward-facing arrows icon between address A and address B on the top of the map. To exit from Google maps, Click x in the map tab(s).

Search for Location with Google Maps using Android App. -: Search for a place Open the Google Maps app       . At the top, tap the search box and type an address or name of a place. Or choose a category, like gas stations or groceries. To use voice search, tap Speak       . Optional: After you find a place on the map, you can see directions to the place in a list, details about a place, or hear directions using voice-guided navigation. Filter your results Not all the filtering options are available for all languages and regions. Search for a type of business, restaurant, or place. Above your search results, tap More Filters. Select what you want to filter. Tap Apply.

Instead of searching for an address or a street name, we can also search by name, for example guide the user to a nearby restaurant by being given the name of the restaurant. The application can also take phrases such as “a place with burgers” and suggest nearby destinations that match the phrase. The application can receive a voice input instead of typing the destination on the device. Multiple Views Traffic: The application's traffic congestion map shows the route marks with different colours based on the current traffic along the route. The traffic is measured by data from local road services such as highway cameras, as well as speed and location information from other Android devices that are accessing Google Maps for Mobile. Satellite: The application displays a route from a bird’s eye view using Google’s satellite imagery. Street: The Google Street View feature displays a route from first-person view as which automatically changes as the user travels along the route. Car Dock Mode Users can dock their Android device in a car using a special car dock for the device (which may or may not come with the device). Once docked, the device will enter this mode, enabling for easier access to the navigation features at an arm’s length. Walking & Transit The application provides voice navigation for walking and previously for transit directions. In its current iteration navigation is not available for transit, only a list of directions is provided. The transit directions are available in 400 cities around the world. Offline Guidance Once the user has searched for a destination, the map will cache along the intended route. Note that the application requires an Internet connection to search for the route, but once a route has been found, the user no longer requires an Internet connection as the route is temporarily saved onto the device.
