VirtualBox We will use a virtual machine to demonstrate the principles involved. To run this virtual machine you need to install VirtualBox (http//www.virtualbox.org) in your computer. A virtual machine is just like a separate computer but with no real hardware: it borrows the hardware from your computer -- while you are still doing other things.

Open VirtualBox and Start the machine

Getting started Boot from the virtual machine Open VirtualBox Launch the “New machine” wizard Create a new Linux machine: FreeBIT Select an existing hard disk: FreeBIT.org.vdi You may need to deactivate PAE/NX in the system configuration

When the machine ends booting you will be faced by a login screen. Use password “freebit” to log in. CAUTION: THIS IS HIGHLY UNSAFE AND YOU SHOULD NEVER EVER USE SUCH AN OBVIOUS PASSWORD IN REAL LIFE. The first thing you should do in such a situation would be to change the password immediately to something safer.
