What do we need to do as a supply chain? Draft swot DRAFT swot Get involved! STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES More customers are demanding it Involved at early stage in project Fewer delays and disputes Better risk management Better understanding of where costs lie Provide information on your products at right time in the right format at the right level of detail Competitive edge – making it easier for customers to specify your products Build customer loyalty Trade Association active Need to make investment in tools and training Some adopting wait and see attitude Long tail of supply chain not yet ‘bought in’ – the ‘mush in the middle’ Sector not ready for culture change Data standards still evolving OPPORTUNITIES THREATS Maintain relationships with existing customers Develop relationships with new customers Provide O&M and H&S information Integrate with business strategy - lean Improve in-house processes – inc. manufacturing and fabrication – avoid waste Link BIM with CPR and EPD Offsite installation Can’t justify investment costs to MD/FD Lose sales to competition that is BIM-ready Designs become ‘standard’ Value engineering still happens after undertaking upfront work

Cab guidance note: BIM Cab guidance note Key Points of this Guidance Note Summary Why do I need to invest in BIM? Drivers for BIM 2016, etc SWOT How does BIM relate to my business? Perspective from different parts of the supply chain Why should my business engage with it? Clients demanding it Improve processes What is BIM? Levels of BIM Challenges of BIM Awareness and understanding of BIM Making the business case Compile the internal team: e.g. you, marketeer, technical boff, salesman Investing in technology and training How to select software Legal implications
