Identifying Your Strengths & Interests

Skill An ability or talent

Strengths Positive qualities and skills

Accomplishments Things you have achieved at home, in school, or in the community.

Interests Subjects or activities that attract your attention and that you enjoy doing or learning about.

The following are examples of interests and abilities that you may have and that could be useful for certain careers: Artistic: Graphic designer, photographer, fashion designer, interior decorator. Clerical: Medical records technician, administrative assistant, public safety dispatcher, bookkeeper.

Interpersonal: Customer service representative, flight attendant, home health aide, retail salesperson. Language: Editor, translator, social worker, speech therapist. Leadership: Educational administrator, lawyer, chef, firefighter Manual: Carpenter, animal caretaker, auto mechanic, conservation worker. Numbers/Math: Software engineer, financial analyst, pharmacist, network administrator.

Musical/Dramatic: Musician, actor, producer, director, music or drama teacher. Organizational: Air traffic controller, nurse, travel agent, computer systems analysts. Persuasive: Lawyer, psychiatrist, retail salesperson, advertising executive. Scientific: Agricultural inspector, dental assistant, dietician, chemical engineer, physical therapist.

Social: School counseloar, recreational worker, social worker, home health aide. Visual: Carpenter, landscaper, mechanical engineer, architect, dentist. Technical/Mechanical: Airline pilot, electrician, auto mechanic.
