Population & Ethnic communities The population is about four million people. In Boston, White Americans make up 56,3%. African Americans represent 23,5% of the population. They are in Roxbury area, in North Dorchester and Mattapan. Now, the Hispanics and Latinos are 15,6%. They live in the Roxbury area.The African Americans came to Boston after the American Civil war (1821-1865)
