Welcome to Pine Class Year 4 Maths We will be looking at time durations and 2 step word problems. We will continue with our times table challenge and developing our 4 rules of number. English We will be spending time learning the key grammar for year 4. We will also be using the book Bike Boy to plan, edit and uplevel our own narratives. We will be using drama techniques to help us to bring our ideas to life. Welcome to Pine Class Year 4 Summer Term Two Have a look at what your child will be doing this half term Important Information Please leave PE Kits in school all week Reading Books to be in school everyday. Please sign your child’s reading record when you have listened to them read. Please encourage your child to learn their times tables to 12x12 Science- Plants. How did that blossom become an apple tree? This half term we will be looking at plants . We will identify and describe the functions of different parts of plants; roots, stems, leaves and flowers. We will also investigate the ways in which water is transported within plants. Children will also explore the role of flowers in the life cycle of flowering plants, including pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal. Music This half term we will be learning how to play the Samba Drums. We will also be performing at The Foundry on June 20th. Look out for your letter. PSHE We will be looking at Sex and Relationship Education. There will be a meeting for parents prior to the children's lessons. P.E. Indoor PE this half term will be Gymnastics . Outdoor PE we will looking at different athletic events. R.E. We will look at Rules and how they influence actions. We explore the five pillars of faith, special and sacred places Computing This half term we will walking to The Grange to use their ICT suites. We will be continuing our work on Coding and using Flowol. We will also continue to develop word processing skills. Creative Our DT topic will be exploring how levers and linkages can be made. We will also look at complex pop up designs. This will include nightly reading, spelling investigation and a weekly literacy, maths or topic based homework that supports learning.
