Prospects of Uzbek-British cooperation in the field of Higher Education Prof. Majid Karimov Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan 2016

Education is announced as the state priority policy of Uzbekistan; Country literacy indicator is one of the highest in the world - 99,34%; More than 64% of country population is under age of 30; 59% of state budget is spent to social sphere and particularly 33,3% of state budget is spent to educational sphere

The President of Uzbekistan took the initiative to launch the “National Program on Personnel Preparation” adopted by the Parliament of Uzbekistan in 1997 Main purpose of the Program was to introduce a new system of continuing education in accordance with the standards as close to internationally recognized system as possible. Introduction of the new system of lifelong learning which includes a new type of education: Secondary specialized and vocational education which is implemented in academic lyceums and vocational colleges Two-level system of higher education (Bachelor’s and Master’s)

Proposals for the further development of bilateral cooperation: Training of the teaching staff of universities of Uzbekistan at British universities; organization of training of English language courses for teachers and students; attraction to the universities of Uzbekistan British professors to organize lectures in various disciplines, including distance forms of lectures; cooperation on the implementation in the educational process of new educational and modern information and computer technologies; - expansion of direct inter-university co-operation in areas such as sciences, engineering, architecture and construction, materials science, geology and mining, information technology, medicine;
