Multi-hazard service EC Project ARISTOTLE WMO WWRP Workshop, Exeter, 27-29 April 2016 EC Project ARISTOTLE All Risk Integrated System Towards the Holistic Early-Warning Feb. 2016 – Feb. 2018 Consortium lead: INGV, ZAMG Alberto Michelini, alberto.michelini@ingv.it, Gerhard Wotawa, gerhard.wotawa@zamg.ac.at http://aristotle.ingv.it Objective ARISTOTLE will deliver world leading multi- hazard capability to the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC). ARISTOTLE has been designed to offer a flexible and scalable system that can provide new hazard related services to the ERCC and to create a pool of experts in the field of Meteorology and Geophysics of Europe that can support the ERCC with regard to situation assessments in crisis situations worldwide Background Background In Europe, the management of emergencies associated with natural disasters falls under the responsibility of the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), which is the operational hub of civil protection and, if needed and upon request of the affected country, can send special units for intervention consisting of people, means of transport and equipment made available by Member States. To speed up this intervention system and integrate the available data at best, the ARISTOTLE (All Risk Integrated System Towards the Holistic Early-Warning) project has recently got underway. It involves 15 European countries under the coordination of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) with the support of the Austrian Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics ZAMG.
