Questionnaire content in 2008 Census In the 2008 Census both a short and a long form questionnaire were used. Ten questions on the name, relationship, age, sex, nationality, regional group, region of origin of birth, current usual state of residence, and the number of years one spent in the state, made up the SFQ. The LFQ contained the same 10 questions and additional questions on Disability, Education, Economic activity, Marital status, Fertility, Mortality, Housing characteristics, Agriculture, Animal husbandry and fishery.

Questionnaire content continue: In addition to the above questions, questions on ethnicity and religion were included on the questionnaire during he pilot census. However, these two questions became controversial and delayed the finalization of the questionnaire and manuals which in turn affected the Census enumeration timeline. Therefore the Presidency endorsed the decision to delete both questions.

Regional group and Region of origin adopted in 2008 Census Regional group included:- Northern Sudanese Southern Sudanese Non Sudanese Region of origin referred to six regions of Northern Sudan and three regions in South Sudan.
