Welcome Welcome to the 2015 DPF Meeting on behalf of the Division of Particles and Fields (DPF) of the American Physical Society. The DPF is one of the Divisions of the American Physical Society (APS). APS had 51,000 members in 2015. Of these, 3447 were members of the DPF. “The objective of the Division shall be the advancement and diffusion of knowledge of the fundamental particles and fields, their structure, interactions, and interrelationships, and, in concert with other APS Divisions, to support relevant advances in accelerators, computing, and instrumentation.”

DPF Governance The DPF has an elected Executive Committee, Secretary-Treasurer, Divisional Councilor, and Chair-line. DPF Issues Maintaining the momentum of the P5 Report See Steve Ritz’ talk Saturday Informal discussions here P5 Report (2014) built on foundation of “Snowmass” process. Final Meeting in 2013 in Minneapolis, many earlier meetings in 2013 and 2012. The P5 report has been a huge success. The report coupled with the show of unity by our field impressed both the funding agencies and congress. How do we keep this going?

DPF Issues (2) Our field overlaps with other APS divisions DNP, DAP, DPB The Laboratory User Groups do excellent work in outreach to the agencies and congress. Coordination is needed to maintain the momentum of the P5 report.

DPF Issues (Other) Travel restrictions on Russian visitors Could endanger US-Russian collaboration on experiments. Already making this difficult Travel Restrictions on Lab Employees General Funding issues Funding agencies (DOE) asked to come to this meeting to discuss their programs and funding opportunities with you. This is a change. Not just a meeting devoted to the latest results in our field.
