Foundation High School Graduation plan & Implementation

House Bill 5 Began implementation in 2014-2015; current juniors will be the first cohort to graduate under the new Foundation Plan Provides more flexibility in course selection and focuses on college AND career readiness Students must complete the basic foundation courses and an endorsement area; selecting one endorsement area of study and taking courses within a specific pathway in the endorsement

CTE Opportunities for students 26 Nationally recognized industry certifications offered and paid by the District 1,216 Nationally recognized industry certifications earned in 2016  26 Classes offered for SPC college credit at No Charge to the Student 859 students earned articulated credit with South Plains College  Paid and unpaid internships provide work-based learning experience  Student organizations provide opportunities to compete at the district, state and national level and teach leadership skills and responsibility

Middle school – Planning/Advising students and parents 6th and 7th grade - College and career lessons relating to Foundation Plan information, GPA, rank, top 10%, career interest and post-secondary opportunities are taught in May through social studies classes 8th Grade – All students view HB 5 video in the fall semester 8th Grade - Counselors met with students in small groups and individually to begin discussing and developing a Personal Graduation Plan (GPG) and create a 4 year scheduling plan Providing 9th grade parent informational meetings about HB 5 related to high school scheduling and information

High school – Planning/Advising students and parents Counselors meet with 9th-11th grade students in small groups and individually to revise the Personal Graduation Plan (GPG) and update 4 year scheduling plan; counselor reviews and updates annually with each student College and career advising – admissions, financial aid, dual credit, TSI, SAT, ACT, etc. Documenting endorsement completions and performance measures in TEAMS; listed on each student’s transcript Providing 9th grade parent informational meetings about HB 5 and college and career Information posted on school websites, CCCR dept. website and district website Currently using 4 year plan in TEAMS to generate student course requests for scheduling purposes
