Current New Product Development & Onboard Process Fashion designer select colors ,patterns and bags for next season. Factory makes virtual samples for each one and email back to design team Design team decide which one is ok from virtual image and which one requires a real sample. Factory makes sample products and ship back to Dallas office Fashion design team makes final decision for next season’s new products.
What are the Problems : High Cost Cost of one sample product = $20 one high quality photo = $10 10 patterns x 10 stripes x $30 = $3000 / one bag per season 60bags x $3000 = $180000(This is a lot of money for samples) Labor time 3mins(making one virtual) x 10 patterns x 10 stripes =300mins 60(bags) x 300(minutes) =18000(minutes)(About 300 hours)
Sales <=> Profit What are the Problems : Because of the high cost Onboarding less products = Less selections for customer (Impact online sales) Longer time to make virtual images Time to market is a key point for sales Sales <=> Profit
