STANDARDS BASED REPORTING New way to communicate student learning Grades will accurately reflect what students know in relation to grade-level expectations at a point in time rather than an average over time Provides a clear and complete answer to the question, “What do my students need to know, understand and be able to do? It is imperative that your student completes ALL assignments on time and does their best work! Incomplete work skews data and costs valuable instructional time

Reporting Topic: Bike Riding Performance Standard: Student can ride a 2-wheel bike independently. 1 2 2 1 3 Traditional grading for correctness = student score of 1.9. (Average of scores throughout the journey.) Grading for learning relative to a standard, based on evidence of what a student can do at a particular point in time = student score of 3.

STUDY HALL NOT a punishment for students All 5th grade classes participate Goal to help each students succeed Missing / Late assignments
