Volunteer Opportunities Idaho Humane Society Fast Facts Volunteer Opportunities Largest community-based, non-profit, animal welfare organization in the Inland Northwest. Founded in the 1890’s, incorporated in 1945. No animals ever turned away. Dog Handler Cat Handler Adoption Assistance Greeter Mobile Adoptions Special Event Support Inmate Dog Alliance Program of Idaho Fostering Mission Statement: To advocate for the welfare and responsible care of animals, protect them from neglect and cruelty, and promote humane awareness and compassion for all living creatures.

Training Information: - After applying for a volunteer position, you will have to attend a few training sessions to start off your experience. Purpose: - Going to these classes will provide the volunteer the knowledge of the building and the animals. Specifications: - 1½ hours for Basic Training. 1½ hour for any advance training. Types: Basic – Explain the Idaho Humane Society and the facility. Kennel – Specializing in handling canines in and out of the facility. Cattery – Spec. in handling felines. Foster – Specialize in fostering animals.

My Training Experience Knowledge of Humane Society. Given pamphlet over programs. PowerPoint of rules and expectations. Tour Advance Training Schedules.

April Experience 10 hours of volunteer time. *3 each Saturday morning* Kennel Dogs - Exercising - Acquainting - Introduce

Future May  June  July  Etc. 10 hours minimum. New Programs Events

Learning Outcomes 1. Gain experience dealing with small animals. (Specifically Dogs) Goal: Yes - I was able to gain experience in handling canines, both big and small. - Diseases and viruses - Moods - Breeds

Learning Outcomes 2. Learn how to train/teach dogs basic commands. Goal: Yes… - Sit - Lie Down - Stay - Sayings 3. Earn 10 hours of volunteer time each month. Goal: Yes - April - May

Learning Outcomes 4. Continue volunteering after the project in school is finished. Goal: N/A - Year long 5. Explore and learn about different animal careers. Goal: Yes - Trainer - Veterinarian Technician
