It’s Banking. But not as we know it. Research and Content Generation: Communities of Practice Wednesday, March 9, 2016

Communities of Practice (CofP) The GABV CofP are volunteer groups of experts in different fields, who work together and exchange knowledge to establish a common view on how to apply their functions within a values-based banking environment by focusing on those characteristics that make this environment special and more connected to the values-based singularities.

Objectives of the Communities of Practice (CofP) Peer to peer advice Advice to CEOs and to the GABV Secretariat on topics related to their practice Research and content generation Position papers and advocacy CofP are fundamental for the GABV and one of the most important pillars of our organization. They promote: Peer to peer advice within the GABV banks (not only CEOs) creates group cohesion, shared understanding of common banking concepts and allows for savings in consultancy fees given that CofP help solving problems and sharing experiences that could benefit the wider community of the GABV. Advice to CEOs and to the GABV Secretariat on topics related to their practice. Research and content generation: in order to build a stronger brand and disseminate a clear message, we need to be explicit on why the GABV member banks are different, and the only way to do that is by deeply analysing the business models of our member banks, its commonalities and the difference with other banking models. E.g. Concepts such as “trust” are very important for values-based banks, so CofP focus on “how” instead that in “what”. Production of position papers for advocacy on a variety of banking topics.
