Bacteria Bacteria> are tiny organisms that are found everywhere. A few types can causes foodborne illness. Bacteria are the most common cause of foodborne illness. Many bacteria are helpful. For instance, helpful bacteria are used to make yogurt and cheese. Some help fight disease. Others can make certain vitamins. Luckily, only a few types of bacteria pose a threat

Poison Poisons> Are a natural part of animals, plants or contamination that contain toxins Toxins> Poison Certain plants and animals contain natural toxins. For instance, many mushrooms are tasty, while others contain a deadly poison. Natural poison is also found in potato peels. The amount is small, but increases as the potato sprouts.

Viruses Most common foodborne illness causes by a virus is hepatitis Symptoms nausea, vomiting, weakness, and liver damage. It can also causes death The virus is found in water contaminated with sewage (Raw fish, oysters, clams) Also found on skins of unwashed fresh fruit and vegetables Cross-contaminated is also a causes of hepatitis Prevent by cooking seafood thoroughly and washing fruit and vegetables.

Parasite Need a host to live The host can be any living plant or animal Enter your body by consuming raw fish or meat Look like small worms Most common parasitic worm is trichina which causes a diseases called trichinosis Symptoms vomiting, diarrhea, nausea. Fever, thirst, and chills. This disease makes it hard to talk, shallow and breathe Heat kills Parasites
