Tea Act of 1773 British helped the East India Tea Co. (A British Tea Company) and gave it a Monopoly (total economic control) of the American Market. The Sons of Liberty got involved and boycotted against the Act

Boston tea Party Members of the Sons of Liberty disguised themselves as Native Americans They dumped over 342 chests of tea into the harbor This was an act of Civil Disobedience (refusal to obey laws that are unjust)

Yeah, just following the king’s orders! Georgie said to unload the tea…

Intolerable Acts When news of the Tea Party reached London, King George III was furious. Parliament responded by passing the Coercive Acts. The port of Boston was closed (economic) The colonists believed these laws violated their rights as English citizens (social) Shut down Massachusetts Assembly (political)

First Continental Congress 55 colonial delegates meet in Philadelphia The delegates call for a repeal of the acts of Parliament. Local Militias began to form in defense of their towns

How does this relate to the Sons of Liberty? (Turn N Talk) Process#2: In your opinion, were the King and Parliament justified in their passing of the Intolerable Acts? From the colonists point of view, what was the most difficult part of the acts?
