New York is possibly the most popular city in the world New York is possibly the most popular city in the world. Every day people come from all over the world to see its skyscrapers and noisy streets. To New Yorkers it is the city that never sleeps, it is the city they adore.

Parts of the fruit Manhattan is the place where you can see most of the city’s famous buildings and sights.

Queens is the largest area Queens is the largest area. The bridge from Manhattan to Queens goes across Roosevelt Island, a smaller island.

For a long time people do not want to visit or live in the Bronx because they were afraid of crime. In the last few years, there has been less crime in this area.

Visitors to Staten Island are often surprise to find lakes and green hills. There are a lot of houses with front and back-yards.

Only three US cities- Los Angeles, Chicago and Huston- have larger population than Brooklyn. This part of New York is called «Borough of Homes and Churches».

Above the clouds You can see who the visitors are in New York. They walk around looking up all the time. New York is famous for its skyscrapers. There are many different types of building. Some of them are beautiful, some are not. Together they are the most wonderful sights in the world.

The Empire State Building The builder of the Empire State Building, William F. Lamb, was asked to make it big. And he did, finishing the world-famous building in 1931. It has 103 floors and it was the tallest building in the world until 1970.

The Flatiron Building When the city’s first skyscraper, the Flatiron Building, was built in 1902, many people called it a big mistake. Some of them said that it is the ugliest building in the world and people were afraid that it would fall down.

The Chrysler Building For many people, the Chrysler Building is the most beautiful in the city. It was built between 1928 and 1930 by the car company Chrysler. It was the tallest building in the world but only for year. The Chrysler Building was built to look like a wheel. When it was finished, the first floor was a car showroom.

New Yorkers live in a big city, but they can also enjoy green, open spaces. Central Park In the middle of the biggest cities in the world, you can have a long, quiet walk under beautiful trees and over green hills. Some tourists think that the park shows natural Manhattan from the days before the city. But in fact, it was carefully planned and built.

Coney Island Brooklyn’s Coney Island offers a very different kind of fun. New Yorkers come here to play on the beach and play games. The Coney Island Mermaid Parade takes place on Surf Avenue and the boardwalk.
