Rotary Clubs Support The Rotary Foundation.

When you join a Rotary Club, you also become a member of Rotary International. Rotary International has 33,000 Rotary Clubs in 200 countries around the world, and you are welcome wherever you travel in the world.

The way we support Rotary International is by donating to The Rotary Foundation.

There are many foundations that we support There are many foundations that we support. For example: our schools, Girl and Boy Scouts, and the American Red Cross. However, none of these will match your donation. The Rotary Foundation (TRF) does. TRF has been named the 2016 outstanding foundation by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (APF).

Rotarians have participated in humanitarian projects around the world, which are all funded by our contributions to The Rotary Foundation.

Some examples of humanitarian projects are: Water Projects, Polio Eradication, Wheelchair Deliveries, Medical Equipment, Education, and Disease Prevention.

Jim Zenner led a group of Santa Cruz Rotarians on a water project funded by The Rotary Foundation.

Russ Hobbs participated on a Polio National Immunization Day to Ghana funded by donations from The Rotary Foundation. Forty Thousand volunteers from Rotary, the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, and UNICEF immunized 5.2 million children, and gave out 2.1 million mosquito nets

Foundation Global Grant for hospital equipment in Guatemala. Sharon Caiocca wrote a Foundation Global Grant for hospital equipment in Guatemala.

Jim Bargetto and Russ Hobbs were part of the team that traveled to Guatemala on a Hospital Medical Supply Global Grant funded by donations to The Rotary Foundation.

Maurice Carrillo was selected to serve on a four-week Rotary Group Study Exchange to Sweden funded by The Rotary Foundation.

Dan Aldrich was selected to serve on a four-week Rotary Group Study Exchange to India funded by donations to The Rotary Foundation.

Gerry Turgeon was selected to serve on a four-week Group Study Exchange to Brazil funded by donations to The Rotary Foundation.

Russ Hobbs participated with teams that distributed wheelchairs to Mexico, China, and Chile.

Russ Hobbs was part of a team that supplied medical equipment to Djbouti, Africa.

Steven Karon submitted applications on behalf of the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz for three UCSC students to receive a one-year Ambassadorial Scholarship funded by The Rotary Foundation. Tim Krupnick was developing a way to improve growing rice in Sub-Saharan Africa. Tim, Natalie Rose and Yolanda Diaz were all Ambassadorial Scholars.

Keith McKenzie has made over 20 humanitarian trips to Guatemala to perform eye surgery with funding from The Rotary Foundation.

We travel at our own expense; and after our humanitarian project, we enjoy a little sightseeing.

From now until December 31 is when we give to The Rotary Foundation. We give to the Rotary Foundation for the good it does in the world. But we also give to the Rotary Foundation for the good it does for our hearts. From now until December 31 is when we give to The Rotary Foundation.
