The Columbian Exchange

The Columbian Exchange Columbian Exchange: huge exchange of plants, animals, food, humans, diseases, languages, and ideas that began after 1492. Exchange: to give and receive from one another.

Benefits European guns and tools made farming and hunting easier. New foods decreased famine and were healthier.

Disadvantages Increased use of slaves Destruction of cultures Disease killed millions of Native Americans Pox: a disease that causes skin blisters and high fevers (ex. Smallpox)
