Monday 2/24 Turn in essay contest into folder Go over Ch 11 and Ch 12 Tests Read Manifest Destiny

Read Manifest Destiny Practice note taking (can write on this paper) Number the paragraphs (for each reading) Chunk the test (with similar content) 3. Underline and circle…with a purpose Circle key terms Those defined in the test, repeated throughout the text Underline- sources, power verbs, figurative language 4. Left Margin- wrote what the author is saying, sum each chunk 5. Right Margin- dig deeper into text what is author implying/POV, picture, ask questions

Answer the following questions in NB Manifest Destiny- O’Sullivan Define- 2 words in context, 2 words using dictionary Define Manifest Destiny using “”’s from writing What does the last rhetorical question do for the reader? Manifest Destiny- Haynes What did the 1840s do for the US? Who opposed MD? What helped the idea of expansion to be possible? Who was the 1st president to expand? Why did southerners want to expand? What did the panic of 1837 do? What areas did Polk want (that the U.S. didn’t get)?
