Help students not to be afraid Remind your students its ok to make a mistake. Practice make perfect. The worst that will happen is your student will not be understood. Learning new things can be fun. Learning a language takes time. Remaining open to new ideals is important.

Help students Study Actively! Practice saying the words out loud Practice repeating words until comfortable pronouncing them. Use flashcards repeating words. Remember Spanish Vowel Sounds. Record your voice and listen to yourself for self-evaluation. ¡Hola!

Help students Study Actively! Listen to the words as you or as others say them. Students can watch many movies with Spanish soundtracks and English subtitles. Spanish cable television and shows are good things to watch. Music cds and videos are also good things to listen to. Columbus library is a good thing to use.

Tips for parents Let your student teach you or a sibling something have learned Help them use context clues Pictures Cognates Help them to be open to new things and new ideals Have students study vocabulary in different order each time.

Tips continued Students should avoid online translators and over use of dictionaries. Students should do Spanish homework in Spanish Do not translate unless part of the assignment. This will save time and energy. Students should stick to the vocabulary you know and do not worry about vocabulary you do not know.
