Curriculum & Resources Each school received an education kit of materials that allowed groups of students to explore solar technology. Middle School Solar Kit

Power Up and $ave We all live in Sun Town. Sun Town has one movie theater. The movie theater has high electric bills. The movie theater will close if a solution to the high electricity bills cannot be found. Sun Town receives a grant to solve the problem using photovoltaics.

Challenge You have been grouped into teams. Each team represents a neighborhood in Sun Town. Each neighborhood (team) must come up with ideas on how to power the movie theater. The goal is to generate 500 milliamps of sustained reliable renewable power. By producing 500 milliamps, you have successfully powered the movie theater.

Parameters Each team will be given $20 to use towards the creation of different system designs. Materials can be purchased at the Solar Store. Spend the least amount of money as possible, while reaching your goal of 500 milliamps. Remaining funds will go towards a community swimming pool.

Solar Store Policy All items (except milliamp meters) can be returned for cash or exchanged for another item of the same cash value. You can make as many returns and exchanges as you want.

Try everything! Think like a scientist. Be creative. Hints Try everything! Think like a scientist. Be creative.
