Lesson 1 – Getting to know your Microbit BBC MICROBIT Lesson 1 – Getting to know your Microbit

While we are working in school on your BBC Microbit it will stay in school (unless homework is set), this is because we want to make sure they are not lost or damaged in this period. Alongside your Microbit you will receive a Mirco USB cable, this must stay with your Microbit when you hand it in at the end of the lesson. If you lose or damage your Microbit or USB cable we will be unable to replace it, therefore you must ensure you follow the safety points that will be explained in the next slide. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR MICROBIT, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY WHEN YOU ARE WORKING ON IT.

YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE SAFETY POINTS: Do not use your Microbit with wet hands Do not place any objects on your Microbit Please avoid handling your Microbit on the circuit board while plugged into the computer Be careful when handling your Microbit in general, pushing the buttons too hard or inserting the Mini USB too hard will damage the Microbit. You will only receive 1 Microbit so look after it. You only need to connect your Microbit when you are transferring the code onto it. If you leave it plugged in the whole time you may burn out the USB.

The hardware

What to do….. When you get your microbit, plug the USB into the computer screen and the micro USB into the Microbit. Watch the LED lights they will ask you to complete 4 tasks, this will happen every time you plug your Microbit in. Task 1 Press button A Task 2 Press button B Task 3 Shake Task 4 Tilt the Microbit and move your dot to touch the other dot

Unplug your Microbit!!!!!!!!!
