Cooperative Information platform for low carbon and sustainable mobility CISMOB promotes innovative ways of reducing carbon footprint and increasing the sustainability of urban areas through efficient use of urban transport infrastructure with the help of information and communication technologies (ICT). Project Partners University of Aveiro (PT) Municipality of Águeda (PT) Extremadura Energy Agency (ES) Bucharest Metropolitan Transport Authority (RO) Intelligent Transport Systems Romania – ITS Romania (RO) Stockholm University (SE)

Cooperative Information platform for low carbon and sustainable mobility Problem Statement Traffic congestion: costs Europe about 1% of GDP Air pollution: costs to society ~ 2% of the GDP External costs of noise (e.g. annoyance, health damage) > 0,35% of its GDP More than 2/3 of transport-related GHG are from road transport Emissions from vehicles are a main source of air pollution for human exposure Liquid hydrocarbon fuels are expected to remain predominant over the next decades

Cooperative Information platform for low carbon and sustainable mobility Opportunity: ICT applications Monitor Gathering/presenting information on traffic state Evaluate Environmental impacts in real time Vulnerable zones Inform Promote cycling by providing access to navigation apps Multimodal online intercity trip information; Manage IT support for traffic manage Dynamic road pricing Measure and visualize vehicle usage more clearly Congestion / Pollution hotspots Visualize the environmental effects of travel in real time Eco-Travel planners for different road users Smart Variable message signals Smart traffic lights
