-Patience- Waiting on the Lord

Patience – Waiting on the Lord Theme Verse “Trust in the Lord with all your heart   and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,   and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5-6

Patience – Waiting on the Lord Over these next three days we will learn about the life of Joseph and how he trusted in God. We begin as he is betrayed by his brothers. (Genesis 37) God’s Word was not written down during Joseph’s life and sometimes God spoke to people through dreams. Pay attention to how God is present in every part of Joseph’s life.

Patience – Waiting on the Lord Life was hard for Joseph but God was with Joseph. Many times life is hard for us, but, God is with us and He will grow our faith and trust in Him through these hard times. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

“The Love and Sovereignty of God” Patience – Waiting on the Lord “The Love and Sovereignty of God” God is a loving and perfect Father who know what is best for us God is able to govern all things, and He always does, and without exception. His purposes are always satisfied Nothing takes Him by surprise Nothing happens without His direction or permission.

Jacob loved Joseph the most because Joseph was born in his old age

Jacob gives Joseph a richly ornamented robe

Joseph’s brothers saw their father loved Joseph more and hated him

One night Joseph had a dream

His brother’s bundles of wheat bowed down before Joseph’s bundle

Joseph tells the dream to his brothers and they hate him evan more

Joseph has another dream

He dreams the sun, the moon and eleven stars are bowing down to him

Joseph tells the dream to his brothers and father, Jacob

Jacob rebukes him.

“Will your mother, your brothers and I bow before you?”

Jacob sends Joseph to find his brothers who are watching the animals

He travels to Dothan

His jealous brothers see him coming and plot to kill him

Reuben suggests they spare his life but put him into a cistern

They grab him, take his robe and put him in the cistern

The brothers see Ishmaelite traders coming from Gilead

Brothers sell Joseph to them for 20 shekels of silver.

The traders take Joseph on the long trip to Egypt

They dip Joseph’s robe in the blood of a goat and showed it to Jacob

Jacob tears his clothes, puts on sackcloth, and mourns

In Egypt, Joseph is taken to the slave market and sold to Potiphar

Patience – Waiting on the Lord “I know the plans I have for you,” announces the Lord. “I want you to enjoy success. I do not plan to harm you.
