Scope RDA Update April 2015 vs. other Fast Track updates (August 2015, October 2015, February 2016, April 2016) Not including new and modified instructions on religious, musical, legal, rare materials Changes that impact on bibliographic records “What’s next?”: LC-PCC PSs by Charlene, NACO updates by Jessalyn, CJK serial title change by Shi, and legal materials by Rob

Cautions! Always check RDA instructions and corresponding LC-PCC PSs. Check best practices guidelines for special formats. e.g. for musical works, check Supplements to Best Practices for Music Cataloging Using RDA and MARC21—v.1.4 (last update Feb. 9, 2016) Do NOT catalog merely by following examples!

Highlights of some updates (2015 April-2016 February) New instruction for major and minor changes in title proper of serials for languages and scripts that do not divide text into words (2.3.2.13) Addition of multipart monographs to the transcribing title exceptions (2.3.1.4) Modified instruction for noun phrase occurring with a statement of responsibility (2.4.1.8) New instruction for recording statements of responsibility relating to title proper (2.4.2.3)

Highlights of some updates (2015 April-2016 April) – Cont. Deletion of “core if” instructions for distribution statement, manufacture statement, and copyright date (2.9, 2.10, 2.11) New instruction for recording leaves or pages of plates (3.4.5.9) New instruction for choosing a preferred title when not available (6.2.2.6) New instruction for recording a preferred title in a non-preferred script (6.2.2.7)
