EXECUTIVE SUMMARY CA combinations are divided into intra-band (contiguous and non-contiguous) and inter-band. Aggregated carriers can be adjacent or non-adjacent.
Scoping Out CA CA(Carrier Aggregation) is a technique used to combine multiple Long ‐ Term Evolution (LTE) component carriers (CCs) across the available.
Antennas Topologies Directly connecting two duplexers together can affect each other’s filter characteristic, thereby losing the isolation that is needed.

UE Feature set for LTE-NR UL DC LTE-NR Band/Channel Combinations (will include at least channel assignment) Increasing MSD Easy band/channel combinations (including at least channel assignment) according to rules in slide 45 Difficult band/channel combinations (including at least channel assignment) according rules in slide 45 UE Feature Mandatory Optional No spec support Simultaneous 2Tx x Single Tx switched UL [x] UE Feature Mandatory Optional No spec support Simultaneous 2Tx x Single Tx switched UL

UE Feature set for LTE-NR UL DC (Cont.) LTE-NR Band/Channel Combinations (will include at least channel assignment) Increasing MSD Intermediate band/channel combinations (including at least channel assignment) UE Feature Mandatory Optional No spec support Simultaneous 2Tx x Single Tx switched UL

General notes For the previous slides The categorization of band combinations is up to RAN4 RAN4 is to define a rule for categorization (of band combinations including channel assignments) in order to apply them A possible rule could be based on presence of resulting IMD[2]…[7] (including harmonics as long as cause includes simultaneous Tx) falling in Rx with the given channel assignment In addition to indicate support for Simultaneous 2Tx or not, the UE may need to indicate a capability to support case 1 on slide 5. Whether or not a separate capability needs to be defined for that feature will be discussed jointly when UE capabilities are discussed Note that a potential capability associated to case 1 on slide 5 is band/band combination independent Note that case 2 on slide 5 is supported in a transparent manner from the UE and no UE capability is needed Applies to a triplet of CCs 1 LTE PCell UL + 1 NR PSCell UL + 1 NR PSCell DL, or 1 LTE PCell UL + 1 NR PSCell UL + 1 LTE PCell DL

Background RAN1 decision RAN1 #90 Agreements: When the UE is configured with multiple UL carriers on different frequencies (where there is at least one LTE carrier and at least one NR carrier of a different carrier frequency), but the UE operates on only one of the carriers at a given time among a pair of LTE and NR carriers For LTE carrier, UE can be configured with Case 1: DL-reference UL/DL configuration defined for LTE-FDD-SCell in LTE-TDD-FDD CA with LTE-TDD-PCell For scheduling/HARQ timing of LTE FDD carrier, DL-reference UL/DL configuration defined for LTE-FDD-SCell in LTE-TDD-FDD CA with LTE-TDD-PCell is applied UE is allowed to transmit NR UL signals at least in the subframe(s) where LTE UL transmission is not allowed according to the DL-reference UL/DL configuration FFS whether or not a UE-specific subframe offset for the DL-reference UL/DL configuration can be configured considering system resource utilization and potential spec impact Case 2: Release 15 LTE-FDD HARQ timing No impact on LTE RAN1 specifications Note: it doesn’t necessarily imply that UE has to support both cases
