The Results For teachers: 2017 Principals Conference 9/12/2018 this fragmentation looks like a push-down of expectations on our youngest learners. For teachers: this fragmentation creates a lack of alignment in curriculum and assessment practices. For administrators: this fragmentation leads to isolation, as engaging a disjointed system is confusing. For children and families:

The Law of Initiative Fatigue 2017 Principals Conference 9/12/2018 The Law of Initiative Fatigue “When the number of initiatives increases while time, resources, and emotional energy are constant, then each new initiative—no matter how well conceived or well intentioned—will receive fewer minutes, dollars, and ounces of emotional energy than its predecessors.”  Yet, as we unify our field, we do so at a time when there’s MANY initiatives. Teachers working with 0-4yr olds are implementing QRIS, new standards, going back to school all while not earning a worthy wage. Teachers working with 5-8yr olds are implementing KEA, state standards, and teacher eval systems all without a clear sense of how these initiatives will benefit the lives of young children.
