AGENDA How might we… Empathy building Rapid ideation sessions Wrap up Yoko

Framing questions How might we... Rachelle

How might we Our how might we today is... We have how might we to frame and contain ideation so we get out what we want from the session. Our how might we today is... How might we better connect the community through public space Rachelle

Empathy mapping Rachelle

EMPATHY MAPS Why would I use empathy maps? It’s a great tool to help you build empathy with your personas by imagining their environment. Celeste

ACTIVITY : EMPATHY MAPS What we want you to do: How to fill them in Think & feel? - What are they thinking or feeling in the space? Hear? - What can they hear in the space? See? - Whats going on around them, what can they see? Say & do? - What are they saying or doing in the space? Pains - What are some of the fears or pain points in the space? Gains - what are the advantages of using the public space? Rachelle

ACTIVITY : EMPATHY MAPS What we want you to do: Fill in the empathy maps provided on your tables In 3 groups - 1 per persona Using the personas provided. Rachelle

Rapid ideation 6-8-5 : 6 to 8 ideas in 5 mins Celeste

Challenge: Breaking mindsets and language If you begin a sentence with… “No but...” “We can’t/couldn’t do that…” “We don’t have the budget...” “But regulation...” … reward yourself with 5 star jumps!

Rapid ideation Why would I use rapid ideation? Rapid ideation is a way to come up with a range ideas in a short period of time. Giving yourself time constraints, forces you to be focused and stops brainstorming going on endlessly. These session you can run with people in your community to help you solve problems. Celeste

Ideation rules NO BIROS - There are textas on your tables. NO IDEA IS A BAD IDEA - Even in the craziest idea, there can be greatness. DRAW IT - It’s a super strong communication skill and it’s quick too, a stick man can explain more than a few words. NO BUDGETS, NO REGULATIONS, NO LIMITS - This is a space to grow ideas. No good ideas come from budget spreadsheets. PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION! HAVE FUN! Celeste

By yourself Celeste

How might we better connect the community, through public spaces ACTIVITY : 6-8-5 What we want you to do: This exercise is 6-8-5, 6 to 8 ideas in 5 minutes. What we want you to do is 1. Grab some A4 sheets that are on your tables. 2. You have 5 minutes to come up with 8 ideas, only 1 idea per piece of paper. Don’t write an essay - draw it. 3. Quantity over quality, don’t spend ages making it pretty, focus on heaps of ideas 4. Think of your persona - what would help them? How might we better connect the community, through public spaces Celeste

Share your BEST idea with the person next to you

Use the same template but come up with As MANY IDEAS as possible In pairs Use the same template but come up with As MANY IDEAS as possible

Share your BEST ideas with the rest of the table Celeste

What if cards Celeste

ACTIVITY : What if cards What we want you to do: We’re going to now add some stimulus to our ideation session to make us look at things from different perspectives. In your pairs again, keep coming up with AS MANY ideas as possible using the scenarios on the cards What if… There was no open air public parks How might we better connect the community, through public spaces, so that Celeste

Share your BEST ideas with the rest of the table Celeste

Reflect How was your learning experience? How you could run these in your communities? Celeste
