KU Core
KU Core Current Freshmen and Sophomores will be following the Core Major and minor requirements do NOT change i.e., your SPLH course requirements are the same as with the previous curriculum You can find more information about KU Core at http://kucore.ku.edu/
ASL will still count as a foreign Course Fulfilling this Requirement Quant (~3 credits) An additional course beyond KU Core from an approved list or with Math 101 pre- req Take MATH 365 to meet ASHA Statistics requirement Lab Science (~1 credit) Complete a lab or field experience with a science course Complete a Biology, Physics, or Chemistry Lab to meet the ASHA Biological or Physical Science Requirement Foreign Language (~16 credits) 4 semesters in one language; 3 semesters in one language + 1 semester in a 2nd language ASL will still count as a foreign language for SPLH majors Foreign language courses may also meet Goal 4, Outcome 2 (e.g., SPAN 212, 216) Social & Behavioral Sciences Biological Sciences Physical Sciences CLAS additions to BA degrees: ASHA Requirements Checklist (can NOT be fulfilled by SPLH courses; CAN be fulfilled by KU Core & CLAS requirements) Statistics
KU Core: Important Notes Some courses may count for multiple learner outcomes HOWEVER, you can only count a Core course once You pick where you want the course to count E.g., LING 106 meets Goal 1 (Outcome 1) and Goal 4 (Outcome 2) You can only count it in one place YOU choose EITHER Goal 1 or Goal 4 Your DPR will make an initial placement for you based on where it “thinks” you need to use it.

Recommended Course Sequence
Course reminders: SPLH 462 (Speech Science) is offered in the Fall and Spring. SPLH 463 (Hearing Science) is only offered in the Spring and recommended for Sophomore year SPLH 120 is prerequisite to 463 SPLH 463 is a prerequisite to SPLH 568 If you have not completed 463 by Spring of Sophomore year you will still graduate on time, but you will not have the opportunity to complete SPLH 670: Practicum in AUD within a regular 4 year BA.

Gain an Appreciation of Other Cultures KU has numerous study abroad opportunities including short-term break, semester long, and year long opportunities http://www.studyabroad.ku.edu/ KU International Internship Programs Group internship programs are offered during the summer in Dublin, London, Madrid, Shanghai and Sydney. Students are placed individually in internships according to their majors/minors and industry preferences. Students intern for 20-32 hours per week (dependent upon program) and may also complete coursework during these 8 week programs. All internships are for unpaid and for academic credit (usually SPLH 451 for SPLH majors) Study abroad to Lima Peru starting summer 2016 March 1 is deadline for study abroad applications
