KU Core Current Freshmen and Sophomores will be following the Core Major and minor requirements do NOT change i.e., your SPLH course requirements are the same as with the previous curriculum You can find more information about KU Core at http://kucore.ku.edu/

ASL will still count as a foreign Course Fulfilling this Requirement Quant (~3 credits) An additional course beyond KU Core from an approved list or with Math 101 pre- req Take MATH 365 to meet ASHA Statistics requirement Lab Science (~1 credit) Complete a lab or field experience with a science course Complete a Biology, Physics, or Chemistry Lab to meet the ASHA Biological or Physical Science Requirement Foreign Language (~16 credits) 4 semesters in one language; 3 semesters in one language + 1 semester in a 2nd language ASL will still count as a foreign language for SPLH majors Foreign language courses may also meet Goal 4, Outcome 2 (e.g., SPAN 212, 216) Social & Behavioral Sciences Biological Sciences Physical Sciences CLAS additions to BA degrees: ASHA Requirements Checklist (can NOT be fulfilled by SPLH courses; CAN be fulfilled by KU Core & CLAS requirements) Statistics

KU Core: Important Notes Some courses may count for multiple learner outcomes HOWEVER, you can only count a Core course once You pick where you want the course to count E.g., LING 106 meets Goal 1 (Outcome 1) and Goal 4 (Outcome 2) You can only count it in one place YOU choose EITHER Goal 1 or Goal 4 Your DPR will make an initial placement for you based on where it “thinks” you need to use it.

KU Core: Important Notes Major and Minor requirements can meet KU Core requirements E.g., SPLH 261 and SPLH 566 meet Goal 3 Social and Behavioral Sciences SPLH 497, SPLH 498 and SPLH 660 meet Goal 6 You do NOT have to choose here The course can count for KU Core and for your Major/Minor requirements

KU Core Important Notes New courses are being added to KU Core Courses that you have taken that don’t currently count, COULD count in the future re-check http://kucore.ku.edu/courses regularly (e.g., end of this semester, middle of next semester) to see if any of your completed courses fulfill Core requirements
