DEPARTMENT OF CHILDRENS MINISTRIES

Children’s Ministries Objective Children’s Ministries seeks to develop the faith of children from birth to fourteen years of age. Children’s Ministries strives to provide multiple ministries that will lead children to Jesus and disciple them in their daily walk with Him.

Current Status The Department is established and growth is evident, especially as proper guidance is being given to the Leaders. Many Districts have elected leaders and are reporting. The operations of the Department are being appreciated and each District that has embraced the ethics confirm the need for proper establishment and support.

Growth Activities An annual Musical Festival. The new Lusaka Conference should be divided in two zones for ease of transportation of children. Annual Camp Sites are encouraged and construction of separate camp chapels for the children. Leadership Certification Seminars will be held by ZBUC while Districts will hold for Levels 1 and 2. Children’s Week of Prayer and Sabbath will be held in July. The material and guidelines will be sent to all Districts. All Districts and churches are encouraged to hold Vocational Bible School programmes at least once a year.

Challenges The need for Adventist Youth leaders to work together with Children’s Ministries leaders. In some cases there is no provision of children’s shelters to serve as children’s chapels, making it difficult to implement children’s programmes at churches and at Camp Meetings. District Pastors in districts rarely attend children’s meetings and programmes, therefore direction and supervision are minimal.
