Growth Versus Fixed Mindset

AVID Impact This Year Simple changes in organization with the students who struggled in the beginning of the year. Students who were once shy now raise their hands to participate and actively involve themselves in discussions. We have students setting goals to score well on chapter tests with the idea that they want to attend a certain college instead of the beginning of the year where their goals were “I want to score a 90 so I don’t get in trouble”. Students self advocating for themselves when they need help.

6th Grade Schedule LPA students take 7 courses on an alternating-day schedule. Blue Day – 3 classes plus a “skinny” class. Green Day – 3 different classes plus the same “skinny” class. Wednesday – No “skinny” class. Students report to homeroom each day at 8:30am for important morning announcements.

District Exams District Exams District exams are administered every semester in ALL core courses. These exams are administered across the entire county. They are counted in the summative category as a regular test grade. The testing window is ALWAYS the last week of the quarter. District Exams

Hot Topics for 6th Graders Sixth Graders are responsible for their academic progress. This shift is important for an independent learner. Please partner with your child and show them how to log on to HAC and Edmodo and have them explain to you about their classwork, homework, and test scores. Please check HAC as daily communication regarding homework does not occur

Thank you for coming tonight. We are confident your children will have a successful transition to the 6th grade. Our experienced team is ready to help your child to become a successful and independent learner!
