District Operations and Staff Reorganization and Job Title Changes What: District undertook the task of reevaluating all support positions to determine future required positions to ensure best use of resources Prior to the school year (Summer 2012), the new organizational structure for the operational departments of HCS were presented and approved by the Board Intent: Organize structure, define job descriptions, eliminate duplicative and unnecessary tasks, standardize and retitle old positions and define new requirements Includes: Support Staff (Operations, District Staff, IT, Administrative Assistants, etc.)
District Operations and Staff Reorganization and Job Title Changes During the school year, newly defined positions were posted and filled Final step in moving to the new organizational structure is the reassigning and retitling of current employees’ job titles to match the new titles and/or roles resulting from the job analysis/reorganization Most employees will simply be changing in title only and will receive a copy of their job description which more clearly defines their role
District Operations and Staff Reorganization and Job Title Changes Approximately 90 employees will be moved to a reassigned role Job description was significantly changed, but they were performing the same or similar duties Job analysis revealed a more significant change was needed than a job title 66 positions graded at a higher grade than the grade of their previous job title and are therefore deemed a promotion These employees are primarily within maintenance, in secretary roles, or at the school computer labs Board approval is needed for the reassignment because a pay increase is recommended
