PSE Change Center Inputs for SNAP-Ed & EFNEP Networks The above model depicts a general flow of national SNAP-Ed/EFNEP leadership guiding the process for SNAP-Ed & EFNEP implementing agencies with low income communities being the end receiver. The PSE Change Center’s target audience are SNAP-Ed/EFNEP networks (coordinators and educators). The purple boxes list the technical assistance inputs (TA, guides, resources and materials specific to PSE, RTC, and or intercultural competence) that the PSE Change Center is currently working to implement. In the yellow box is the training input which will link SNAP-Ed/EFNEP networks to new and or existing trainings related to a specific competency. Both technical assistance and trainings are designed to equip coordinators/educators with the knowledge, skills, and efficacy to effectively implement and evaluation PSE approaches into their current work.

Aim 1. Complete a situational analysis of SNAP-Ed and EFNEP programs related to PSE adoption and implementation.

Delphi Study Included SNAP-Ed and EFNEP Professionals Identified facilitators, barriers and training needs for PSE Implementation Link to Delphi Study Report

Review and Identification of trainings and resources available for SNAP-Ed or EFNEP PSE Approaches Link to Identified Trainings Link to Identified Resources

Process to be conducted with EFNEP supervisors in March 2017 DACUM Major Duties Related to PSEs in SNAP-Ed Train Staff on PSEs Identify Community Needs/Opportunities Build Multi-Level, Multi-Sector Partnerships Create PSE Action Plan Implement PSE Action Plan Evaluate PSE Strategies SNAP-Ed supervisors from implementing agencies from across the country in 2016 Process to be conducted with EFNEP supervisors in March 2017 Link to SNAP-Ed DACUM Verification Survey Results

Aim 2. Adapt readiness to change resources to strengthen SNAP-Ed and EFNEP efforts to implement PSE strategies.

Readiness to Change Tools Bi-weekly meetings occurred with RNECE-PSE and two SNAP-Ed implementing agencies to pre-pilot two readiness to collaborate tools. After stakeholder use and input, both tools were further refined into one tool. A webinar to train SNAP-Ed local coordinators on how to implement the collaboration readiness tool in select pilot states was shared. Pilot is in progress.

Aim 3. Create a framework and provide resources to increase intercultural competence in SNAP-Ed and EFNEP PSE implementation.

Intercultural Competency Framework Intercultural competency review of literature completed, intercultural development continuum process and assessment tool identified. Pilot of assessment tool and development continuum presented to 100 educators. Intercultural development continuum process overview for SNAP-Ed/EFNEP educators in development. SNEB Pre-Conference Proposal submitted to include a session introducing the intercultural competency concepts

Aim 4. Develop, disseminate, and evaluate systematic competency-based PSE instruction, guidelines, and resources including readiness to change and intercultural competence development that are tailored to the needs of trainees.

Competency-based PSE Instruction SNAP-Ed PSE Identified Tasks and Duties are being used to develop web-based video modules related to implementation of PSE approaches for: Food Systems Community Gardens School Gardens Farmer’s Markets Corner Stores

SNAP-Ed PSE Interactive Map Web-based tool designed to engage implementing agencies to identify community venues, build local partnerships, and assess community readiness through an interactive map format. Pilot February 2017 and live distribution July 2017.

Next Steps: EFNEP PSE DACUM Panel: February 2017 Investigate best practice for SNAP-Ed PSE Integrative Map collaboration with SNAP-Ed Toolkit and Interpretive Guide Publish Journal Articles related to project outcomes Disseminate tools and resources developed
