Blessed to be a blessing Session 1: Just One Touch (Luke 8:22-56)

Introduction Session 1: Just one touch (Luke 8:22-56) Session 2: When heaven touches earth (Luke 9:1-6) Session 3: Weak disciples, strong Saviour (Luke 9:37-45)

Introduction My call to healing and wholeness ministry ‘But whoever lives by truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God’ (John 3:21 NIV)

Jesus Calms the Storm (Luke 8:22-25) Where is your faith? ‘When I am afraid , I put my trust in you.’ (Psalm 56:3) Fixing people’s eyes upon God.

The Healing of the Demon Possessed Man (Luke 8:26-39) Jesus went across the lake for one man. The storm was to prevent him getting there.

Before and After The Man The People Before: Naked, living in a tomb, frightened of Jesus, violent, dangerous, a menace to the area, controlled by a legion of demons. After: Released, dressed, right mind, wanting to follow Jesus, witness The People Before: Scared of the man Afterwards: Scared of Jesus, valued the pigs more than the man.

Deliverance Ministry You are always praying for a person. If uncomfortable refer to the leader. Pray in pairs. Give privacy. Remember: The cross is the place where Satan was defeated. Afterwards: Pray for cleansing, refilling and protection.

The Woman in the Crowd Luke 8:42-48 The testimony of healings raised expectations. The woman could have made many excuses: The crowd Nothing had worked for 12 years Not right to touch Jesus Not important

The Woman in the Crowd Luke 8:42-48 Jesus Release of power Asked for a testimony ‘Daughter ( a somebody) your faith (the steps taken to approach Jesus) has healed (cured) you. Go in peace (wholeness)’ (v 48)

Healing Ministry A person is exercising faith in seeking prayer. Wholeness (peace) and healing (cure). Blessed to be a blessing – everyone who receives prayer receives a blessing.

Jairus’ Daughter Luke 8:40-42a; 49-56 Jairus is a synagogue leader Exercised humility and courage to approach Jesus. Heard the Jesus healed the sick…but raise the dead? Who would Jairus listen to? The crowd or Jesus?

Jairus’ Daughter Luke 8:40-42a; 49-56 The crowd On the way: Delayed Jesus. At the house: Mourned and mocked. Jesus Affirmed Jairus. Removed the crowd and took the parents and the three disciples into the room. Raised the girl and told her parents to feed her.

Healing Ministry Affirm the person seeking ministry. Recognise that the delay to receiving prayer can build fear or discouragement. Build up faith in God. Advise the healed person to seek medical opinion before stopping any medication.
