What To Do When You Arrive Put all personal belongings under your table. Review the objectives & daily agenda posted on the board. Read the BRO Time prompt from the white board & start working at your assigned seat.

Pet Peeve #1 Arrive on time! The door closes & class begins when the bell rings. You should be at your seat & working by 12:13pm (12:34pm 1 hour delay!). When you arrive late, it suggests that your time is more valuable than mine.

(1) Be Ready to Work Go to the restroom before you get here. No hall passes the first + last 15 min. of class! Eat at home. Know the difference between a meal and a snack… Make sure you have your own writing utensil every day. No loaners!

Pet Peeve #2 Be respectful, not disruptive! Cell phones are not to be visible or in use without permission. If in doubt, assume it’s a RED zone. Repeat offenders will surrender the device to the ‘Phone Prison.’

(2) ADULTING 101 Consider appropriate timing when asking for hall / Study Hall passes. Save unrelated questions for one- on-one conversation after class. Avoid sharpening your pencil when the teacher is talking or someone is presenting. You don’t have to raise your hand for permission to get out of your seat, but you do need to demonstrate respect & professionalism.

Pet Peeve #3 Respect the bubble! You don’t need to touch each other – keep your hands to yourself at all times. Since you come prepared to class each day, you don’t need to borrow or move anything… especially on my desk or cart… ever! especially pens!

Pet Peeve #4 My job description does not include cleaning up after you for your comfort & convenience. Your notes go into your folder. Trash goes in the trashcan. Your chair should be pushed in.

(4) Pick up your mess! Do not leave personal belongings (including notes & handouts) on the desk when you leave. The floor beneath you is just as important as the desk. Respect the shared workspace. Desks should be aligned with the floor markers. ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY GET UP AND LEAVE

Pet Peeve #5 Lining up at the door! Something tells me you’re not trying to be the first one to your next class…

(5) Class Ends … when I Tell You Packing up before 12:13 is both distracting & disrespectful. We will end each class with a closing activity or ‘exit ticket’ before you are dismissed to pack up. That bell you hear? It’s just for fun. The teacher will announce when it is time to clean up, and the teacher will dismiss the class when the room is sufficiently clean.

Recap – mr. Anderson’s Pet Peeves! Arrive on time. Be respectful & come ready to work! Observe the bubble: keep your hands to yourself. Clean up after yourself. Wait until given permission to pack up, but don’t line up at the door.
