Excess Baggage Text: Acts 8: 9-24
Baggage (Literally) Mga dala o sudlanan sa mga dala (Figuratively), it means: a. unresolved issues b. hidden sins c. hindrances that prevent us.. 1. reaching our goals 2. doing something effectively d. hardships/trials/trouble/problems
I. God gives us “baggage” also Mat. 16: 24 says, “..take up thy cross and follow Me.” “..take up thy baggage and follow Me.” God’s “baggage” is necessary on our journey.. -the CROSS during the Early Church Period is a symbol of death and fear -now, for us, it’s a symbol of life and hope God’s baggage is a SPIRITUAL NECISSITY (video illustration: Loving God)
II. Excess Baggages Worldly “baggage” A. Simon “the magician” have excess baggage 1. Simon believed and was baptized(v. 13) “his body is present, but his mind is absent.” -Simon’s “baggage” is revealed (vv. 21- 23) 2. “baggages” prevents us to experience God’s goodness/blessings -Simon saw what the Lord had done, but he never experienced it (v.18) How about us???
Baggage KATAMARON Comment: Many scriptures teach concerning spiritual and physical laziness (Heb. 12: 12, I Cor. 15: 58; Col. 3: 23).

Repentance -unloading yourself of the “burdens” 2. Transformation (v.24) -not by “suppressing” or hiding our sins
Jesus said…. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11: 28 KJV)
