Could I deploy as an EOP? Absolutely! Beginning Sep 15, “SECDEF has tasked the USAF for involuntary mobilization Title 10 to provide qualified Personnel, EO, and Services personnel to support overseas contingency operations on Title 10 for tours in the AOR for approximately 183 days. NGB Functional Area Managers (Ms. Kristen Damagella) will coordinate directly with your units to ensure we (ANG) meet this SECDEF tasking.” Lt. Gen Clarke (ret.) Former DANG Always On Mission

Maj Brabham, South Carolina ANG Joint Services Support (JSS) “Lessons I learned in deploying to help you. Wish I could be at the NTP with you.” V/r your EO Wingman, Maj Brabham, South Carolina ANG Always On Mission

Being Prepared to Deploy #1 be prepared to know the AD & ANG Complaint Process! 3-6 months before you deploy, begin communication with who you will be replacing Request your job description & key responsibilities Initiate requests for: icomplaints (new AD EO IT System) AF EO SharePoint Other EO related systems Participate in or listen on monthly EO teleconferences in the AOR Boots on ground, network with your EO counterparts in the AOR and AFPC Always On Mission

Lessons Learned from my deployment Utilize standard work schedule to stay on top of weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks Learn who your fellow EOPs are sister services in the AOR Initiate requests for: icomplaints (new AD EO IT System) AF EO SharePoint Other EO related systems Participate in or listen on monthly EO teleconferences in the AOR Consistent communication with EO Strategic Advisor and EO Directors Key to Air Power: BE FLEXIBLE! Always On Mission

Deployments Way Ahead Timely communication with who you’re replacing and your replacement Just-in-time training to ensure you’re ready Opportunities at ANGRC and Active Duty Accurate ART Reporting DO NOT report “green” if you’re not! If you’re in the bucket, we will attempt to notify you immediately! Always On Mission

Challenges to HRE Human Relations Education Small Modules over time is key! Consistent EO ancillary training and tracking in ARC Net pending! Key Personnel Briefing Partner with respective POC to send you updates to changes in command Don’t limit who gets the training – all supervisors/officers could benefit from the education and awareness! Newcomers Orientation Standardized training slides pending! Always On Mission

SAVs, AAP, & Reports…OH MY! Request through ANGRC/EO and your respective IG Funding always an issue (some are centrally funded) New & improved NG Annual Report coming soon! Elevated to NGB-EO via your SEEM Utilized for Wing EO Climate Brief to CAIB New AAP pending CNGB signature CDI/CWI reminder to respective commanders Use a MFR to educate to inform EO of CDI/CWI as it relates to violations of EO policy 0-6 and above formal complaint notification Notify ANGRC/EO and NGB-ANG/EO Always On Mission

ANG Specific Inspections MICT No preparing! On-going honest assessment “By-Law” programs – Annual FY Required by “Above Air Force” agency (DoD, Congress) Higher than Air Force policy (DODI, DODD) Deficiencies in IGEMS Requires recurring report signed by the IG to the outside agency (DoD, Congress, Presidential Committee) Tracked and sent to ANG/IG IG: Focus primarily on issues that are systematic in nature and that affect many units throughout the command. Examine and recommend solutions for problems that command and staff inspections cannot solve at the local level.

IG Wisdom for MICT… Don’t study for the test – Stay Compliant Don’t let manning be an excuse Prioritize the work Utilize MICT Communicate status (accomplishments/gaps) Be honest about your program No pencil whipping Keep your leadership and Major Commands informed & involved Courtesy of:   MISTY BUTTS, SMSgt, USAF Strategic Advisor, HQ ACC Equal Opportunity (EO) Programs DSN 574-3146 COMM (757) 764-3146

IG Wisdom for By-Laws… Ensure you have applicable regulations and continuity book ready prior to inspection Know your applicable regulation & program Use the MICT checklist as your program’s “Table of Contents” Encourage future EO by-law inspections to Example: Maj Scott was completing her by-law and was in verbal discord with the IG on the AFI 36-2706 and applicability. To mitigate frustration and save time, lesson learned is she could have pulled out the AFI and showed the IG wher eit states on the front page “Does not apply to ANG members in title 32 status”. “By-Law inspection is an annual requirement. Nobody knows the program better than you and what you have been trained to do. The IG has the MICT checklist and is merely verifying your EO office to ensure you’re accomplishing and complying to the “By-Laws” of the EO Program. Be proactive and collaborate with the IG by completing the inspection to educate, inform, and showcase your EO program. They do not necessarily know all the workings of the EO program and your requirements.”   FRANK PAGE, Lt Col, ORANG 142 FW IG/Inspections

Your Inaugural ANG EO Advisory Board Region I – Capt David Ferrer, North Northeast: CT, ME, MA, NJ, NH, NY, RI, VT Region II – MSgt Angela Phillips, 175 WG, Maryland ANG South Northeast: DE, DC, MD, PA, VA, WV Region III – TSgt Tyree Reeves, Alabama ANG Southeast: AL, KY, FL, GA, MS, NC, PR, SC, TN, VI Region IV – Capt Valerie Ward, Michigan ANG – Advisory Chair North Central: IL, IN, IA, MI, MN, OH, WI Region V – TSgt Nichole Banford, Louisiana ANG South Central: AR, LA, MO, OK, TX, KS, NE Region VI – TSgt Carl Green, 142 FW, Oregon ANG Northwest: AK, ID, MT, ND, OR, SD, WA, WY Region VII – TSgt Gayle Beasley & 2Lt “Huch”, Arizona ANG Southeast: AZ, CA, CO, GU, HI, NM, NV, UT EO Advisory Board is a new initiative to improve communication, training, and networking within the ANG/EO Community.
