Mathematics & Science We have adopted Pearson enVision as our math program. Math Objectives: counting, sorting, number recognition, number sense, geometry, algebraic thinking. In math, we use many different hands-on activities and manipulatives to help the children gain a concrete foundation for math concepts. You won’t see a lot of math papers, because tasks are mostly hands-on. AMSTI Science modules include Trees, Weather, Living Things, and Balls and Ramps

See the Kindergarten Parent Information Guide. Math Assessments Formal math assessments are given four times a year, but monitored throughout the year. See the Kindergarten Parent Information Guide.

Things you should know and what you can expect! Kindergarten Report Card Things you should know and what you can expect!

College and Career Ready Standards http://vimeo.com/51933492

Kindergarten Report Card A six week Progress Report will be sent home in September. Then Progress Reports will come home every four weeks. Report Cards will be sent home every nine weeks. Please sign all Progress Reports and Report Cards and send them back to school. All standards will appear on the Report Card but may not be assessed each time. If it is not being assessed it will be marked with a /. Please refer to the Report Card Parent Information Sheet.

Understanding Reports Kindergarten Report Cards do not reflect letter grades given on assignments. Instead, the numbers 3, 2, and 1 show student progress made on skills to be mastered by the end of the Kindergarten year. 3- consistently demonstrates mastery (standard met) 2-progressing towards mastery (standard not met) 1- insufficient progress toward mastery (standard not met) /- Standard not assessed

What to Expect from Reports Remember that Kindergarten Report Cards DO NOT reflect grades given on assignments, so a 3 is not equivalent to an A+. 2 will be the most common, because it indicates that your child is making appropriate progress. A 3 will not appear until your child is consistently and independently showing mastery of a standard. Details of progress will be communicated through parent/teacher conferences.

Conferences Conferences are typically held twice a year; however, teachers and parents may see the need for additional conferences throughout the year. Fall Spring * If you want to schedule a conference at any time please contact your child’s teacher, and we will be happy to meet with you!
