How Packaging Attracts Customers

The Role of Packaging In Any Business Packaging has always been an important part of the business since the birth of trade and industry. In past times packaging was only used as a tool to protect the products from any external hazard. It was used to increase the life of the product while in inventory before it reaches its final destination. It was done as a not-so-important task and was focused primarily on the functional purpose. As the industry evolved and competition was increased, brands started looking for options to develop the best of they can with the existing tools and methods.

Packaging As a Tool To Attract Customers! Packaging was evolved from a very new perspective and left behind the only functional purpose. It was evolved more into giving information to the customer and attracting them towards the product as the main purpose and brand as the whole purpose. Packaging helps the brand to get recognized by their target customers. It makes and image of the brand in the eyes of customers and helps to transfer useful messages from brand to customer without one on one interaction. In short, packaging speaks for the brand and creates an impression only through its appearance.

How packaging attracts customers: Packaging, if done correctly attracts the customers towards itself. A unique packaging helps to distinguish the product from other products kept on the rack. If creates an identity within itself and tends to attract the customers to which it is targeted to. There are few reasons due to which customers are attracted towards the products:

#1. Consumer Behavior The main element in packaging design that attracts customer is the color, design, layout and pattern involved in deciding on selecting a particular package design. Packaging designers focus on what gets customers attraction from in between tons of products kept on the same shelf. For example, children’s cereal packaging has many bright colors that attract their eyes; health-focused cereals will have more whites and pastels to project a softer, more adult image. Brands with strong color patterns should incorporate them into the packaging design.

#2. Branded Packaging Due to technological advancements, packaging has reached a level that it truly reinforces the image of the brand to the targeted customers. The brand image that the product’s packaging promotes should differentiate it from competitors, which can be difficult when the products are similar. For example, the products of beverages have a standard sleek and unique design that helps them to get located from far away. In this way, the packaging speaks for the brand.

#3. Secure Packaging Customers are attracted by the packaging that has a security factor involved in it. It protects the product before usage and can be reused after the product has been consumed. A common example is kraft bags. In this way, customers tend to come in again and again to buy reusable packaging materials.

Types of Retail Boxes: The most common type of packaging used in retail industry are as follows: 1. Folding cartons- the cartons that have material such as cardboard which tends to fold up in any direction needed. These are used to pack temporary products which do not have a longer delivery time.

#2 - Rigid Boxes These boxes have a very thick material of packaging. They are usually used for products that are fragile and needs an extra cushion to protect them from environmental hazards.

#3 - Kraft Boxes These are types of boxes which are made up of kraft papers having layerings in between to provide a cushion to the product while shipping. It usually is kept in inventory for a longer period of time so has instructions which can differentiate them from other products.

Recommendation of Boxes While choosing boxes for your retail business, you have many options in the market. There are companies that provide boxes on standardized options. Nowadays customized boxes are the most valuable form of packaging in the industry. These boxes are specially designed with regards to the product and the company and are personalized in a way that it provides all the necessary information to the customer. For this purpose, a very well known company named “The custom boxes” works wonders. For example, if you are looking for wholesale popcorn boxes, they will design it according to the image of your brand without any limitation of quantity.
