SWBAT I will be able to identify scale and proportion in artworks. I will be able to create an artwork with the foreshortening technique. I will be able to use visual arts vocabulary in context.

Scale We have been learning about proportion, which is the relationship of one part to another. Scale is like proportion. However, scale refers to size of an object compared to the world itself.

Hierarchical Proportion Hierarchical Proportion is when figures are arranged in a work of art so that scale indicates importance. In Egyptian art, one can see examples of hierarchal proportion.

Drawing Human Proportion Body proportions cannot be defined in inches or centimeters. They can only be defined in ratios. The average adult is seven and one- half heads tall.

Foreshortening  Foreshortening is to shorten an object to make it look as if it extends backward into space. This artwork is named Sphere created by M.C. Escher in 1935

Sketchbook Foreshortening Selfie Pose Take a picture Draw a self portrait showing the foreshortening technique.
