Mark Twain’s Childhood Home Mark Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri which was close to the Mississippi River. His hometown was also the setting for many of his books.

Mark Twain’s Work Mark Twain best work is considered to be Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It is considered the First Great American Novel by many. Other works, such as The Prince and The Pauper and A Tramp Abroad were not nearly as successful.

Tom Sawyer is a clever 12- year-old boy. He tricks his friends into painting his fence for him by convincing them how fun it is. This book tells the stories of Tom Sawyer’s mischievous childhood.

In Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Tom, Huck, and Joe escape to an island to explore.

Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn These two characters are childhood friends that appear in each others’ stories. Tom Sawyer plays a small role in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huckleberry Finn appears in Adventures of Tom Sawyer and his story serves as the sequel.

Huckleberry Finn stars in his book. Huckleberry is a honest and noble character. He helps a slave escape because he feels it is the right thing to do.
