LEADERSHIP Class “Leaders have to be able to create a vision and mobilize their followers to carry it out”

Dealing with Different Personality Styles Student leadership development includes learning how to relate to all types of people. Students learn the four basic personality styles and how to best relate to each type. They also get a better understanding of their own personality style. This makes it easier for students to work closely with other people.

Presentation skills Presentation skills are essential to leadership, and during the week the students had several opportunities to give speeches while they practice the persuasive skills of eye contact, movement, and vocal variety.

Planning & Teambuilding Skills Students also have several opportunities to practice teambuilding activities. Their current tasks are to choose the school name, motto, colors, and song for the Class of 2017 as well as create plans for upcoming school events.

Listening Skills We stress the importance of listening attentively to be effective. Exercises in listening both as a group, and in one-on-one conversations highten the awareness of the importance of listening. Students also learned how to use active listening skills to make sure they understood what the person meant.

Our country needs strong and courageous men and women who can lead with integrity. Student leadership programs in high schools, middle schools and youth groups are a great way to polish the brilliant diamonds that will become our country’s leaders of the future.
